Episode #45 – Scary Things When We Were Kids

Trick-or-treating and dressing up as a favorite creature or character are beloved Halloween traditions, as well as, for many, sitting down in a darkened theater, or living room, and  watching something spooky to experience some thrills and chills. Everyone has some fictional frights that they remember well, but when you’re young, some of those scares can often come from unexpected places, and the chills can linger quite a long time. In the spirit of Halloween the gang is reaching back and reliving some of the earliest frights they can remember from movies and TV when they were kids. Many of which still haunt them to this very day.

Good topic discussion. I laughed when Zach mentioned that he freaked out on the Joker’s Kill Buzzer scene in Batman ’89. The movie I was a bit freaked out on was “The Thing” 1982. My dad and I watched it together, but the scene that made me so scared was when the doctor was doing an autopsy, and he put his hands into the guys chest and the teeth chomped them off, and then Kurt Russell came in and started to torch it with a flamethrower, but as it was burning, the head peeled off the body, and began rolling off, then it spurted out legs. What made it funny was the crew looked at crawling away, and gave the WTF look. After that scene, my dad paused it and need to go to the bathroom, and he was going to leave me down in the BASEMENT, wait for him to come back…. HELL NO. I went upstairs immediately right behind him, but trying to play it cool, I went to the kitchen till he was done.
